Exam Pattern

Recruiting force: Railway Protection Force (RPF), with the recruitment conducted through the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). Posts: Constable and Sub-Inspector (SI). Eligibility: Class 10 pass for Constable, and graduation for Sub-Inspector; both have age limits and physical standards. Selection stages: Computer-Based Test (CBT) → Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT) → Document Verification → Medical Examination.

CBT (single paper; same structure for Constable and SI): 120 questions, 120 marks, 90 minutes (extra time for eligible PwBD candidates with a scribe). Sections — General Awareness 50 questions/50 marks; Arithmetic 35 questions/35 marks; General Intelligence & Reasoning 35 questions/35 marks. Negative marking: one-third (1/3) mark for each wrong answer.

PET & PMT (qualifying): running, plus height and chest measurement as per the standards for the category and gender (for example, the SI and Constable running distances/timings and the height/chest norms are laid down in the notice). Candidates who qualify move to document verification and a medical examination.

This is the standard RPF CBT pattern; the exact PET timings, physical standards and vacancy split vary by notice, so always confirm against the current RPF recruitment notification on the RRB / RPF portal.
