परीक्षा पैटर्न
Both RPF Constable and Sub-Inspector use the SAME single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT) pattern for the written exam.
SELECTION STAGES (in order):
1. Computer Based Test (CBT) — the objective written exam; only this carries merit marks.
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — running / long jump / high jump; qualifying (pass/fail), not counted in merit. Standards differ for Constable vs SI and by gender/category.
3. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) — height and chest measurement; qualifying, standards vary by category.
4. Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination.
CBT DETAILS (CONFIRMED):
- Total questions: 120
- Total marks: 120 (each correct answer = 1 mark)
- Duration: 90 minutes, single sitting
- Type: Objective / Multiple Choice
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted per wrong answer; no deduction for un-attempted questions
- Medium: English, Hindi and regional languages offered by the RRBs
SECTION-WISE BREAK-UP (CONFIRMED):
- General Awareness — 50 questions / 50 marks
- Arithmetic — 35 questions / 35 marks
- General Intelligence & Reasoning — 35 questions / 35 marks
MINIMUM QUALIFYING MARKS IN CBT (CONFIRMED): 35% for UR / OBC-NCL / EWS and 30% for SC / ST (relaxable per rules). Shortlisting to PET/PMT is on the basis of CBT marks; there is no interview.

- General Awareness (50 marks) — Indian History (ancient, medieval, modern, freedom movement); Art and Culture of India; Indian and World Geography (physical, economic, political); Indian Polity and the Constitution (fundamental rights, DPSP, Parliament, judiciary); Economics (basic concepts, Indian economy, budget); General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology up to ~10th standard); Sports and important awards; Current Affairs and matters of everyday observation and experience
- Arithmetic (35 marks) — Number System, Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between numbers; Fundamental arithmetical operations; Percentage; Ratio and Proportion; Averages; Interest (Simple and Compound); Profit and Loss; Discount; Use of Tables and Graphs (Data Interpretation); Mensuration (area, perimeter, volume); Time and Work; Time and Distance
- General Intelligence & Reasoning (35 marks) — Analogies; Similarities and Differences; Spatial Visualization and Spatial Orientation; Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgement and Decision Making; Visual Memory and Discriminating Observation; Relationship concepts (Blood Relations); Arithmetical Reasoning and figural classification; Arithmetic Number Series and Non-verbal Series; Coding and Decoding; Statement-Conclusion and Syllogistic Reasoning
