परीक्षा पैटर्न
Stages: (1) CBT 1 (screening) → (2) CBT 2 (merit-deciding) → (3) Skill Test — Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for typing posts OR Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) only for Station Master & Traffic Assistant → (4) Document Verification + Medical.
CBT 1: 100 questions / 100 marks / 90 minutes (120 min for eligible PwBD with scribe). Sections — General Awareness 40 Q/40 marks; Mathematics 30 Q/30 marks; General Intelligence & Reasoning 30 Q/30 marks. 1 mark per question. Negative marking 1/3 (0.33) per wrong answer. CBT 1 is qualifying/screening; candidates shortlisted for CBT 2 = 20 times the number of vacancies (on normalized scores). CBT 1 marks are NOT used in final merit.
CBT 2: 120 questions / 120 marks / 90 minutes (120 min for eligible PwBD with scribe). Sections — General Awareness 50 Q/50 marks; Mathematics 35 Q/35 marks; General Intelligence & Reasoning 35 Q/35 marks. 1 mark per question. Negative marking 1/3 per wrong answer. Final merit is based on CBT 2 (with normalization across shifts). A separate CBT 2 is held for the different 7th-CPC pay levels (graduate CEN 05/2024 covers Levels 4/5/6; undergraduate CEN 06/2024 covers Levels 2/3).
CBAT (Station Master / Traffic Assistant only): psycho-aptitude test, NO negative marking; candidate must score a minimum T-score of 42 in EACH test battery. For these posts, final merit = 70% CBT 2 + 30% CBAT.
Typing Skill Test / CBTST (qualifying only, for typing posts such as Jr Clerk-cum-Typist, Accounts Clerk-cum-Typist, Sr Clerk-cum-Typist, Jr Time Keeper): 30 words/min in English OR 25 words/min in Hindi on computer (90% accuracy), no editing/spell-check tools. Exact vacancy counts and shortlisting ratios vary per CEN.
