REET (Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers) is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, Ajmer (BSER). It is an ELIGIBILITY test only — passing it gives no direct right to a job; recruitment (including the separate 'REET Mains' by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board) is a different process. Two levels: Level 1 for classes 1-5 (primary) and Level 2 for classes 6-8 (upper primary); you may appear in both. Each paper: 150 MCQs, 150 marks (1 mark each), 2 hours 30 minutes (plus 10 minutes to read instructions). Level 1 sections: Child Development & Teaching Methods 30/30, Language-I 30/30, Language-II 30/30 (must differ from Language-I; both chosen from Hindi/English/Sanskrit/Urdu/Sindhi/Punjabi/Gujarati), Mathematics 30/30, Environmental Studies 30/30. Level 2 sections: Child Development & Teaching Methods 30/30, Language-I 30/30, Language-II 30/30, and Section IV 60/60 — either Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies. IMPORTANT MARKING RULE: the notification says there is no negative marking for a WRONG answer, BUT every question has a fifth option 'E' ('not attempting'); if you leave a question with none of the five circles darkened, 1/3 mark is deducted, and leaving more than 10% of questions fully blank makes you INELIGIBLE — so always darken one circle. Minimum qualifying marks: General 60%; SC/OBC/MBC/EWS 55%; ST 55% (Non-TSP)/36% (TSP); widows/divorced women and ex-servicemen 50%; Divyang 40%; Sahariya 36%. The REET certificate is valid for LIFETIME (Rajasthan Govt order dated 16-03-2022). Fee (2024 cycle): one level ₹550, both levels ₹750. CONFIRMED against the official BSER REET-2024 notification (Vigyapti No. 01/2024 dated 12-12-2024, rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in) and the official Level-1/Level-2 syllabus PDFs.
