DET from 24 August — where your admit card is
The Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) has scheduled the Driving Efficiency Test (DET) for Driver Constable in Bihar Police and Bihar Special Armed Police — Advertisement No. 02/2025, 4,361 posts (the notice spells it out: चार हजार तीन सौ इकसठ) — to begin on 24 August 2026. The programme notice (memo 33) was issued on 31 July 2026.
E-admit cards have been available since 10 August 2026 (from midnight) on the board's website csbc.bihar.gov.in under its Bihar Police tab, which opens the download login at apply-csbc.com. Your individual DET date, reporting time and venue are printed on the admit card itself — the notice does not publish a common venue list.
Document verification happens on the SAME day as your DET, with no second chance — carry everything listed below on your test day.
Could not download it? The duplicate-card window is 21–22 August
If you cannot download your e-admit card, CSBC allows a duplicate to be collected in person on 21 and 22 August 2026, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the board's office: Back Hardinge Road (near Sachivalaya Halt), Patna 800001 — at your own expense. No admit card is sent by post to anyone, and without the admit card there is no entry to the DET ground under any circumstance.
The recruitment so far — every stage with its date
The written exam (10 December 2025) and the PET were qualifying stages only — their marks do not count in the final merit list. Of the candidates PET tested in March 2026, the board's result notice of 28 April 2026 lists 11,847 candidates, roll-number-wise, as selected for the DET. The biggest single reason candidates dropped out at PET, per the same notice, was failing the race (2,307 candidates).

What happens inside the DET — the full 100-mark scheme
The DET is worth 100 marks, split across three vehicles: jeep (40), car (40) and bus/truck (20). For the jeep and car tests there is a marked testing track: you enter IN REVERSE through the A–H and B–G gates, turn the vehicle around inside the rectangular track, and come back out in reverse the same way. If any part of the vehicle touches a pole or the track boundary, you are disqualified on the spot.
| Track segment | Distance |
|---|---|
| A–H and B–G (entry gates) | 8 feet 6 inches |
| B–C and F–G | 11 feet 3 inches |
| C–D and E–F | 25 feet 6 inches |
| D–E and C–F | 31 feet |
| A–B and H–G | 21 feet |
| Jeep / Car — time and gear changes | Marks (40 each) |
|---|---|
| Within 1 minute, 3 gear changes | 40 |
| Within 1 minute, 5 gear changes | 32 |
| 1 to 2 minutes, 5 gear changes | 24 |
| 2 to 3 minutes, 5 gear changes | 16 |
| Over 3 minutes, or more than 5 gear changes | Fail — no marks, out of remaining events |
| Bus / Truck test (20 marks) | Marks |
|---|---|
| Driving through all gears without gear noise | 8 |
| Making a figure of 8 driving forward | 4 |
| Making a figure of 8 in reverse | 8 |
The jeep-car rule vs the bus-truck rule
The bus/truck test is only for candidates holding an HMV licence — others simply skip it. It has no qualifying minimum: whatever you score is added to your merit marks, and failing it (or not attempting it) does NOT disqualify you. The jeep and car tests are different: taking more than 3 minutes, or more than 5 gear changes, means failure with zero marks and you are out of the remaining events.
How the final merit list is calculated
Only the DET decides merit. The formula in the advertisement: your DET marks are multiplied by 0.75, and candidates who have served as contract drivers in Bihar Police get 5 preference marks per completed year of service, up to a maximum of 25. The advertisement's own example: 95 DET marks × 0.75 = 71.25, plus 25 service marks = 96.25 total.
Ties are broken in this order: the older candidate ranks higher; if age is also equal, the higher educational qualification; and after that, alphabetical order of the name as written in the 10th-board certificate. Successful candidates are allotted to Bihar Police or Bihar Special Armed Police according to the preference filled in their application. If selected candidates do not join, CSBC can issue supplementary recommendation lists for up to 6 months from the final result.
Documents to carry on your DET day (verification is the same day)
Everything below goes with you on the DET day itself, in original plus one self-attested photocopy set — the board gives no separate DV date and no second chance:
- Valid photo ID (Aadhaar card, driving licence, voter ID or similar)
- Original LMV/HMV driving licence issued on or before 17 July 2024 — at least one year before the advertisement date
- Matric (10th) certificate and marksheet in original — date of birth proof
- Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent pass certificate AND its marksheet
- SC/ST candidates: caste certificate + permanent residence certificate
- BC/EBC candidates: caste certificate + residence certificate + Non-Creamy-Layer certificate (if the NCL certificate is older than one year, also the Form XIIIB declaration per GAD circular 15440 dated 05-12-2017)
- EWS candidates: income-and-asset certificate on Anusuchi-I (Prapatra-I) per notification 2622 dated 26-02-2019 + residence certificate; the certificate is valid for one year from its issue date (GAD letter 5718 dated 25-03-2026)
- Transgender candidates: identity certificate issued by the District Magistrate per circular 9556 dated 19-06-2024 (Prapatra-3 or 4) + residence certificate
- Candidates who worked as contract drivers in Bihar Police: the 'Samvida Niyojan Avadhi Praman Patra' from the SP/Commandant of the district/unit, per Police HQ letter dated 13-05-2025 (Appendix Ka of the advertisement)
- One self-attested photocopy set of everything, along with all originals
The board's hard rules — read these once
Two documentation rules from the notices that catch people out: a married woman claiming SC/ST/BC/EBC reservation must present the caste certificate issued in her father's name and address, not her husband's; and an EWS income-and-asset certificate is valid for one year from its issue date.
Attendance on your allotted DET date is compulsory; whoever misses it is out, and no second date is given for any reason — the notice explicitly rules out extensions for family, personal or medical situations, including fractures and pregnancy. Eligibility at this stage is fully provisional: any misconduct or unsatisfactory document at any stage cancels the candidature. The notice ends with a warning in plain words: beware of touts, and report anyone claiming to arrange selection to the police.
What this page deliberately does not state
Your individual DET date, time and venue — those are printed on your own admit card, and the board has not published a common schedule. Cut-off marks for the DET stage — none exist yet. And the medical-examination standards (vision, colour blindness, hearing, stammering, flat foot, knock knee) apply at the later medical stage per the advertisement — they are not part of the DET day.
