3. Economy · DRI busts large-scale misuse of SAFTA in arecanut imports

Potential revenue loss found so far exceeds ₹2,500 crore; nine people have been arrested. Arecanut normally attracts 100% basic customs duty.

Registration is free, open to three-member teams of students and independent researchers till 10 September 2026.

5. Economy · 8th tranche of critical-mineral block auctions — Patna roadshow

The Ministry of Mines holds a roadshow in Patna on 17 August for the 8th tranche of auctions of critical and strategic mineral blocks — 20 blocks in all (3 mining leases, 17 composite licences), covering graphite, rare earth elements, vanadium, tungsten, potash and more.
