Which papers you have to sit
The KREIS examination splits into two tracks, and you only have to study the papers on your own track. The Principal post has three papers. A subject teacher sits the general paper plus one optional paper in their own subject — Kannada, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Physical Education or Computer.
The three Principal papers apply to the Morarji Desai, Kittur Rani Chennamma and Ekalavya model residential schools. Every paper's syllabus is set out below topic by topic, with each topic explained in plain terms.

Paper-1: General Studies — every subject, and how to prepare it
This paper is objective type, multiple choice, across eight subjects. Each one is set out below with what it actually involves.

The standard set for General English and General Kannada
Both language papers are set at the standard of a candidate who has passed a university bachelor's degree examination. What will be tested is listed below.

General Knowledge — all 12 topics, one by one
General knowledge carries twelve numbered topics. It is the largest part of the paper, so all of it is set out below.

The tenth topic alone is as large as the other eleven together — roughly seventeen separate items are packed into it. They are pulled apart below so that nothing is missed.

Paper-2: Education-1 — the complete syllabus
This paper falls into four blocks: educational administration, psychological foundations, new initiatives in Karnataka, and inclusive education. All four are given in full below.

The optional papers — eight subjects for subject teachers
The optional papers run across eight subjects — Kannada, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Physical Education and Computer. You sit only the one for your subject. Each is set out in full below.
1. Kannada Language Teacher
This is the one syllabus printed in the Kannada script in the official PDF, and three numbered units are visible in it. We are not reproducing a translation here: machine reading of the Kannada script is not reliable, and a wrong translation would send a candidate's preparation in the wrong direction. Candidates for the Kannada teacher post should read this section on page 1 of the official PDF linked below. The other seven subjects are printed in English and are given here in full.
2. English Language Teacher

3. Hindi Teacher
This subject has two main parts — linguistics and the history of literature — with the history divided into four periods.

4. Mathematics Teacher
One thing stated plainly: in the official PDF, the heading 'Syllabus for Mathematic Teacher' is followed first by a PHYSICS block and then by a MATHEMATICS block. How to use this syllabus — a practical order of work
This part is not from the official document; it is our own advice, and should be read as such.
- First identify your paper from the tables above — three papers for the Principal post, your own subject for a teaching post.
- List the topics of each paper and mark your current standing against each as 'good / average / none'. Start with the weakest.
- Run Paper-1's general knowledge and current affairs a little every day — it is not a subject that can be finished in one sitting.
- In Papers 2 and 3, note the Karnataka programmes (SSA, RMSA, DIET, Keli Kali, Edusat) and the RTE Act separately — these are asked by name.
- Do not leave General Kannada until the end. This is a Karnataka recruitment and that paper cannot be skipped.
- For marks, duration and question count, wait for the official notification — never build a study plan on any website's guess, including a guess dressed up as a table.
