More From the Notification
One rule catches many applicants out. You may apply for Office Assistant and also for the officer cadre, but within the officer cadre you may apply for only one scale. Choosing Scale I closes Scale II and Scale III for you. Each post needs its own application and fee. For Office Assistant and Officer Scale I you must also pick the State or UT you want to be allotted to, and IBPS treats that choice as irrevocable.
Where the vacancies actually are
| Post | Vacancies | Share of total | | Office Assistant (Multipurpose) | 8,183 | 59.7% | | Officer Scale I | 4,256 | 31.1% | | Officer Scale II (General Banking) | 666 | 4.9% | | Officer Scale III | 220 | 1.6% | | Officer Scale II (IT) | 182 | 1.3% | | Officer Scale II (CA) | 81 | 0.6% | | Officer Scale II (Law) | 46 | 0.3% | | Officer Scale II (Agriculture) | 38 | 0.3% | | Officer Scale II (Treasury) | 18 | 0.1% | | Officer Scale II (Marketing) | 16 | 0.1% |
The notification prints a separate vacancy row for each of the 28 participating banks but never adds them up, so both the post-wise totals and the 13,706 figure above are SarkariReady's own addition of the official per-bank rows. Nine of every ten posts are Office Assistant or Officer Scale I, and both need only a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with no prior experience. The specialist Scale II streams together are under four per cent of the vacancies, and each demands a specific degree plus one or two years of experience.
How the selection works
Office Assistant and Officer Scale I follow a two-tier written route: a 45-minute Preliminary exam of 80 questions, then a 120-minute Main exam of 200 questions. Office Assistant candidates are allotted on the Main exam marks alone, with no interview at any stage. Officer Scale I candidates who clear the Main exam go on to a Common Interview. Officer Scale II and Scale III skip the preliminary entirely and sit a Single Online exam followed by the interview.
Ages are counted as on 1 September 2026: Office Assistant 18 to 28 years, Officer Scale I above 18 and below 30, Scale II above 21 and below 32, Scale III above 21 and below 40. SC and ST candidates get five years of relaxation, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) three years, PwBD candidates ten.
IBPS prints the entire schedule after 21 September as tentative: exam months, result months and the allotment window can all move. The two firm dates are the registration and fee-payment window.
Frequently asked questions
What is the fee for an SC or ST candidate? Rs. 175 including GST, for every post. PwBD candidates pay the same. Ex-Servicemen also pay Rs. 175, but only for the Office Assistant post. Everyone else pays Rs. 850 per post.
What is the last date? 21 September 2026, for both the application and the online fee payment. IBPS then opens a two-day edit window and will announce those dates on ibps.in.
How many posts are there for my category? Annexure I gives a category-wise split for every bank separately, not a single national figure, so look up your own state's bank in the PDF. Each row lists SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and General columns with PwBD and Ex-Servicemen sub-counts.
Can I apply for Officer Scale I and Scale II together? No. Only one officer-cadre post is allowed. You can add Office Assistant alongside it with a separate application and fee.
Every figure here comes from the official IBPS CRP RRBs XV notification linked above. Where the notification does not state something, we have said so.
