Application Fee

UR, OBC and EWS men without a fee concession₹500
SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, women, transgender, minority or Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates₹250

Of the ₹500, ₹400 is refunded, less bank charges, to candidates who appear in the first-stage CBT; the ₹250 is refunded in full, less bank charges, on the same condition. The refund goes into the bank account seeded with your Aadhaar. The fee is paid online only — internet banking, debit or credit card or UPI — and service charges are yours. EBC means an annual family income below ₹50,000, shown by an EBC income certificate, a BPL card, an Izzat MST or a central poverty-programme certificate issued by the closing date; EBC is not OBC or EWS and brings a fee concession only, never a reserved post. Each change made in the modification window costs a further ₹250, which is not refunded.

Age Limit

Minimum Age18 Years
Maximum Age33 Years
Age as on01 Jan 2027

One age band for all four posts: 18 to 33 years on 1 January 2027. In dates of birth, nobody may be born after 1 January 2009, and the earliest date allowed is 2 January 1994 for UR and EWS, 2 January 1991 for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 2 January 1989 for SC and ST. Upper-age relaxation, with the certificate: 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 10 years for persons with benchmark disabilities (13 if also OBC-NCL, 15 if also SC or ST), and for Ex-Servicemen with at least six months' service 3, 6 or 8 years by community after deducting the length of service. Serving Group C and erstwhile Group D railway staff and substitutes with at least three years' service may apply up to 40 years (43 OBC-NCL, 45 SC/ST); widowed, divorced or judicially separated women not remarried up to 35 years (38 OBC-NCL, 40 SC/ST); staff of railway canteens, co-operative societies and institutes get their length of service or 5 years, whichever is less. Only the largest single relaxation applies — they do not add up — and SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates applying against unreserved vacancies get none.

Eligibility

Every post needs a degree from a recognised university, or its equivalent, already held on the closing date, 6 November 2026 — anyone still waiting for the final result must not apply. Nationality: a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam to settle permanently in India; the last three groups need a Government of India eligibility certificate. Medical standard by post: A-2 for Goods Train Manager (the strictest — distant vision without glasses, and tests for colour, binocular, night and myopic vision), B-2 for Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, and C-2 for Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist. Anyone who has had Lasik or other surgery to correct eyesight cannot take the A-2 post. Goods Train Manager is not open to persons with benchmark disabilities; the other three posts are open to the disability sub-categories listed post by post in Annexure A of the notice. There is no typing test for the two typist posts in this notice, but computer typing is assessed after joining and a poor result can delay confirmation or promotion. Anyone dismissed from government service, or currently debarred by any RRB or RRC, may not apply.

Pay Scale

Initial pay in the 7th CPC pay matrix. Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor: Pay Level 6, ₹35,400 a month. Goods Train Manager, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist: Pay Level 5, ₹29,200 a month. Only a stipend is paid during any prescribed training.

Selection Process

  1. First-stage CBT, common to all four posts: 100 questions of one mark each in 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates eligible for a scribe) — indicatively 40 General Awareness, 30 Mathematics and 30 General Intelligence and Reasoning. It only screens: its normalised marks decide who sits the second stage.
  2. Negative marking in both CBTs: one-third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: 40 per cent for UR and EWS, 30 per cent for OBC (non-creamy layer) and SC, 25 per cent for ST — relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD candidates if posts reserved for them would otherwise go unfilled.
  3. Second-stage CBT for 15 times the community-wise vacancies of each RRB, picked on first-stage merit (the Railways may raise or lower that ratio): 120 questions in 90 minutes (120 for scribe-eligible PwBD candidates) — indicatively 50 General Awareness, 35 Mathematics and 35 General Intelligence and Reasoning. Marks are normalised where a CBT runs in several shifts.
  4. Document verification, RRB by RRB, for as many candidates as there are vacancies, on second-stage merit. Originals must be produced on the day — no extra time is given. A tie goes to the older candidate, then alphabetically by given name.
  5. Medical examination against the post's standard (A-2, B-2 or C-2). A candidate unfit for an opted post gets no alternative appointment; one medical appeal may be allowed on payment of the prescribed charges.
  6. Empanelment on merit, post preference, medical fitness and vacancies, then allotment of post and railway zone or unit. The RRB only recommends names; the offer of appointment comes from the railway administration. Selected candidates are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers' unit of the Territorial Army.

How to Apply

  1. Apply online only. The notice and the application link are on the official RRB website, https://rrb.indianrailways.gov.in/ — open Recruitment (CENs), then CEN 06/2026, then any RRB; the notice says the form itself is made live on www.rrbapply.gov.in. Beware of fake websites.
  2. Create an Account first, with your own mobile number and a personal e-mail ID for the OTPs. If you created one for any RRB CEN of 2024, 2025 or 2026, log in with it instead. Enter your name, parents' names and date of birth exactly as in your Class 10 certificate; nothing in the Create an Account form can be changed later.
  3. Verify your identity with DigiLocker or Aadhaar — at account creation, or with Verify Aadhaar before final submission. Candidates who use another photo ID face much stricter scrutiny at every stage, and the fee refund is paid into the bank account seeded with your Aadhaar.
  4. Choose ONE RRB — the choice is final — then list, in order, the posts and railway zones of that RRB you are eligible for and want. More than one application, to different RRBs or the same one, gets all of them rejected and the candidate debarred. RRB-wise totals in the notice: Ahmedabad 19, Ajmer 304, Bengaluru 346, Bhopal 157, Bhubaneswar 146, Bilaspur 542, Chandigarh 59, Chennai 141, Gorakhpur 30, Guwahati 104, Jammu-Srinagar 66, Kolkata 332, Malda 26, Mumbai 155, Muzaffarpur 78, Patna 29, Prayagraj 265, Ranchi 377, Secunderabad 56, Siliguri 291, Thiruvananthapuram 25.
  5. Pick the language of the exam: English, Hindi or one of 13 regional languages — Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu or Urdu. The questions are shown in that language and in English.
  6. The form takes a live photograph through your webcam or phone camera — plain white background, plain dark clothes, no cap, mask or glasses, eyes open. Upload your signature in black ink and running hand as a JPG of 30 to 49 KB. SC and ST candidates who want the free sleeper-class rail pass upload their caste certificate as a PDF.
  7. Submit, then pay the fee online. The application is accepted only when the payment is confirmed, by e-mail and SMS. Apply early: the RRBs take no responsibility for a form that could not be submitted in the last-day rush.
  8. To change anything except the Create an Account details and the chosen RRB, use the modification window from 9 to 18 November 2026 and pay ₹250 each time; moving to a category that pays ₹500 also means paying the ₹250 difference. Nothing can be changed after 18 November 2026.
  9. Help: Common Services Centres (find one at findmycsc.nic.in) can fill the form and take the fee for you. Helpline for application queries, 10 am to 5 pm on working days: [email protected], phone 9592001188 or 01725653333.
