The advertisement prints one examination fee and nothing else — there is no separate portal charge, no departmental charge and no GST line, so no candidate pays more than the single amount in the row for their category. Paragraph 16(vi): the fee is paid only by credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI, and a fee paid by any other means is not accepted. If a candidate pays less than the fixed fee, or the fee does not reach the commission's account by the last date, the application is treated as cancelled on its own — paragraph 16(x) says the form counts as complete only when the fee has reached the commission's account by the fixed date, and paragraph 16(ix) says the application is complete only when the Status column of the online form prints 'Completed Print'. Paragraph 18.3: a candidate who finds a mistake after paying may cancel the application before the last date and apply afresh, but the fee paid against the cancelled application is not refunded in any circumstance and is not adjusted against the new one. Paragraph 16(viii): if a payment fails for a technical reason, or fails after the money has left the account, the commission says the amount is returned promptly. A separate fee of ₹50 per question applies only later, to a candidate who files an online objection against the provisional answer key (paragraph 18.17); it is not part of the application fee.

Age Limit

Minimum Age18 Years
Maximum Age28 Years
Age as on01 Jul 2026

Age is counted on 1 July 2026, which paragraph 08 calls the निश्चायक तिथि, and the advertisement states the limits twice and in two forms that agree: 18 to 28 years, and a candidate who was not born after 1 July 2008 and not before 2 July 1998. Relaxation in the upper limit: five years for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class candidates of Uttarakhand, under Government Order 1399 of 21 May 2005; ten years for Divyang (persons with disabilities) candidates of Uttarakhand on Group 'C' posts, under Government Order 1244 of 21 May 2005; and five years for the dependants of Uttarakhand freedom fighters, under the same Government Order 1244 of 21 May 2005. An ex-serviceman of Uttarakhand may, under Notification 6/1/72 Karmik-2 dated 25 April 1977, deduct the length of his armed forces service from his actual age, and if what remains is not more than three years above the prescribed maximum he is treated as satisfying the upper age limit. The advertisement states no other relaxation, and paragraph 15(xv) adds that a candidate claiming reservation in more than one sub-category gets the benefit of only the single sub-category that is more favourable to him.

Eligibility

Essential qualification: the candidate must have passed Intermediate, or an examination of equivalent standard, WITH SCIENCE OR MATHEMATICS, from a board or council established by law in India or from a recognised school situated in the state of Uttarakhand (page 2, (v)(a)). Preference: other things being equal, preference in direct recruitment goes to a candidate who has served at least two years in the Territorial Army, or who holds a 'B' or 'C' certificate of the National Cadet Corps (page 2, (v)(b)). Who may apply at all: paragraph 09 requires one of three things — registration at an employment exchange situated in Uttarakhand on or before the last date for the application, or an Uttarakhand मूल निवास or स्थाई निवास (domicile or permanent residence) certificate, or having passed both High School and Intermediate, or equivalent, from recognised institutions situated in Uttarakhand. Serving personnel of the armed and paramilitary forces and regular employees of the state government, of semi-government bodies under it and of the central government and central public sector undertakings working in Uttarakhand whose service cannot be transferred out of the state, and their spouses and children, are eligible; so are permanent residents of the state who live outside it for work or study, and their spouses and children. Nationality: a citizen of India, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 intending to settle permanently, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania intending to settle permanently — the last two need an eligibility certificate from the state government (paragraph 11). Physical standards, which are compulsory: height 163 cm for men and 150 cm for women, with a chest expansion of 5 cm on inflation. For Scheduled Tribe candidates and for Gorkha, Nepali, Assamese, Ladakhi, Sikkimese, Bhutanese, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Naga, Arunachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti and Meghalaya candidates the minimum height is 152 cm for men and 145 cm for women (page 2, (vi)(a)). A candidate whose normal vision carries a defect of more than plus or minus 4.00 dioptre is not appointed by direct recruitment (page 3, (b)). A candidate claiming the relaxed height must upload the hill-region (पर्वतीय क्षेत्र) or Scheduled Tribe certificate with the online form and produce it at the physical test (paragraph 02). Marital status: a man with more than one living wife, and a woman who has married a man who already had a living wife, are not eligible for appointment (paragraph 13). Health: no candidate is appointed unless he is sound in mind and body and free of any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his duties (paragraph 14). Vertical reservation, as paragraph 15(i) states the state's current percentages: 19 per cent for Uttarakhand Scheduled Castes, 4 per cent for Uttarakhand Scheduled Tribes, 14 per cent for Uttarakhand Other Backward Classes and 10 per cent for the Economically Weaker Sections; this advertisement prints the roster the employer department supplied. Horizontal reservation, paragraph 15(ii), which is taken from inside the 200 posts and not added to them — 30 per cent for women of Uttarakhand, 5 per cent for ex-servicemen of Uttarakhand, 2 per cent for dependants of Uttarakhand freedom fighters, 4 per cent for persons with disabilities, 5 per cent for orphaned children, 4 per cent for skilled sportspersons and 10 per cent for identified agitators of the Uttarakhand state movement and their dependants. Against these 200 posts the notice prints 60 posts for women of Uttarakhand, 4 for dependants of freedom fighters, 10 for ex-servicemen, 10 for orphans, 8 for skilled sportspersons, 20 for identified state agitators or their dependants, and 8 for Divyang candidates, split as 4 hearing handicapped or physically disabled, 2 one-arm or one-leg affected and 2 locomotor disability. Certificates: an Economically Weaker Section candidate needs a certificate issued between 1 April 2026 and 22 October 2026, based on the income of financial year 2025-26 and valid for 2026-27; an Other Backward Class certificate is valid for three years from issue and must be held and valid on the last date for the online application. Reservation is given only where it is claimed in the online form, and a candidate who is not a resident of Uttarakhand gets no benefit of these state reservations. No-objection certificate: a candidate already working under the central or a state government or a public undertaking must inform his employer before filling the form and produce the employer's no-objection certificate at document scrutiny (paragraph 10). The advertised numbers are provisional — paragraph 05 says the count of vacancies and the filling of reservation are entirely the employing department's responsibility, and that the total and the category-wise numbers may go up or down under the state's current reservation orders.

Pay Scale

Pay level 2 of the Uttarakhand pay matrix, ₹19,900 – ₹63,200, which is the only scale this advertisement prints and it applies to all 200 posts. The post is non-gazetted and temporary and is covered by the Employees' Provident Fund (page 2, (iv)).

Selection Process

  1. Selection runs in two stages (paragraph 03). The first is a qualifying physical standard and physical efficiency test; only the candidates declared successful in it are called to the written competitive examination.
  2. The physical stage is due to begin on 19 November 2026. Paragraph 03 says the date given in the first paragraph of the advertisement is provisional (अनन्तिम), so watch the commission's website for the confirmed schedule.
  3. Physical standard: a height of 163 cm for men and 150 cm for women, and a chest that expands by 5 cm on inflation. Scheduled Tribe candidates, and Gorkha, Nepali, Assamese, Ladakhi, Sikkimese, Bhutanese, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Naga, Arunachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti and Meghalaya candidates, need 152 cm for men and 145 cm for women.
  4. Physical efficiency test, four events with qualifying standards. A run of 25 km for men and 14 km for women, both in a maximum of four hours. Shot put of 7.275 kg — 5.00 metres for men and 3.50 metres for women. Long jump — 4.00 metres for men and 2.00 metres for women. High jump — 1.10 metres for men and 0.70 metres for women.
  5. Only candidates who succeed in the run are admitted to the shot put, the long jump and the high jump, and in each of those three events a candidate gets at most three attempts to meet the standard. A candidate found unfit at the physical standard check, or who fails to meet a qualifying standard, is declared unsuitable and is out of the selection.
  6. Written competitive examination: one paper, offline on paper, objective type with multiple choice, of 100 marks and two hours, with questions set on the educational qualification prescribed for the post (paragraph 06(i)). The syllabus is Appendix-1 and the commission publishes it separately on www.sssc.uk.gov.in.
  7. The written examination date is not in this advertisement. Paragraph 03 says it will be announced separately, on the commission's website and by press release in daily newspapers. Admit cards are downloaded from the commission's website and are not sent by post (paragraph 04).
  8. Negative marking: one fourth of the marks fixed for a question is deducted for a wrong answer. Marking more than one option counts as a wrong answer even if one of them is right, and a question left unanswered carries no deduction. Using whitener, or scratching or cutting an option on the OMR sheet, is penalised in the same way. If the roll number or the booklet series is entered wrongly on the OMR sheet, or is left blank, the sheet is not evaluated and the candidature is treated as cancelled.
  9. Minimum qualifying marks in the written examination: 45 per cent for Unreserved, Economically Weaker Section and Other Backward Class candidates, and 35 per cent for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. Below that a candidate is held ineligible in the written examination (paragraph 06(ii)).
  10. The OMR answer sheet is in triplicate. At the end of the examination a candidate hands the original and the second copy to the invigilator in the examination room and may take the third copy home; failing to hand them in makes the result zero. The question booklet may also be taken home (paragraph 06(iii) and 06(iv)).
  11. Merit is drawn from the marks of the written examination alone. When two or more candidates have equal marks the older candidate is placed first, and if the ages are also equal the candidates are ordered by the English alphabet; other things being equal, the Territorial Army and National Cadet Corps preference of page 2, (v)(b) applies. The final list of selected candidates is published on the commission's website (paragraph 07).
  12. Document scrutiny after the written examination is a compulsory part of the selection. Every claim of reservation, qualification, preference and experience is verified there against the certificates, information about it is given only through the commission's website, and a candidate who does not attend has his candidature cancelled (paragraph 18.6).

How to Apply

  1. Apply online only, on the commission's website www.sssc.uk.gov.in. The window runs from 22 September 2026 to 22 October 2026 — paragraph 02 says an interested candidate may apply online up to 22 October 2026.
  2. The notice prints the form as five steps: registration and personal details, educational and other details, upload of photograph and signature, payment, and printing the application (paragraph 16).
  3. Register with your Aadhaar number. One Aadhaar can be used only once. Use your own mobile number and e-mail address, note the registration number down, because every later step and every future login needs it, and keep the e-mail address and password safe.
  4. Upload a recent scanned colour passport-size photograph of 150 x 200 pixels, your signature of 150 x 100 pixels and a clear impression of your left thumb of 150 x 100 pixels, each in JPG or JPEG format.
  5. Upload your High School certificate and photocopies of both sides of your Aadhaar card, which the commission uses to verify your name and date of birth. The name, the father's name and the date of birth in the form must match the High School certificate — no other document is accepted for the date of birth.
  6. Upload the certificate for every vertical and horizontal reservation you claim. A candidate claiming relaxation in the physical standards must upload the hill-region certificate or the Scheduled Tribe certificate with the form and also produce it at the physical test. Reservation not claimed in the form is not given later.
  7. Pay the fee only by credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI. The application counts as complete only when the fee has reached the commission's account by the closing date and the Status column of the form prints 'Completed Print'. Take a printout and keep it.
  8. Fill only one application for the advertised post. Paragraph 18.3 says that if a candidate files more than one, every application for that post is cancelled. A candidate who finds a mistake after paying may cancel the application before the closing date and apply again, but the fee already paid is neither refunded nor adjusted against the new application.
  9. One correction opportunity is given after the closing date, on 26 and 27 October 2026. Paragraph 18.7 says the name, the mother's or father's name, the age and the examination centre cannot be changed in it.
  10. Do not wait for the last day. Paragraph 18.9 warns that the website carries extra load in the final days of the window and a candidate may be left unable to submit the form.
  11. No printout and no certificate is sent to the commission's office at this stage (paragraph 18.10). Certificates are checked later, at document scrutiny.
  12. For technical help the commission gives one address only — [email protected] (paragraph 16(vii)).
