Application Fee
| UR / OBC / EWS | ₹100 |
| SC / Ex-Servicemen | ₹0 |
UR, OBC and EWS candidates pay ₹100; Scheduled Caste candidates and ex-servicemen are exempt. The advertisement names no separate fee rule for ST candidates, and this recruitment has no ST vacancy. The fee is paid only through the online payment gateway on recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in — a fee paid any other way is forfeited and the application rejected — and it is not refunded under any circumstances.
Age Limit
| Minimum Age | 18 Years |
| Maximum Age | 25 Years |
| Age as on | 27 Oct 2026 |
Age is counted on the closing date, 27 October 2026, from the date of birth in your matriculation certificate. The upper limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC and 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer). Ex-servicemen get 3 years if General, 6 years if OBC and 8 years if SC, each after deducting the military service already rendered from their actual age. Government servants may apply up to 40 years if unreserved, 43 if OBC (NCL) and 45 if SC or ST. 10% of the vacancies are reserved for ex-servicemen; if they stay unfilled they go to other candidates of the same category. SC, OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates must be issued before 27 October 2026 — the OBC non-creamy-layer certificate on income of 2023-24 to 2025-26 — in the advertisement's annexure formats, or the claim is treated as unreserved.

Eligibility
Open to male Indian citizens, including subjects of Nepal or Bhutan. You need two things: a 10+2 pass from a recognised board or institution, and either a certificate in Motor Mechanic from a recognised institution or ITI together with three years' practical experience in the trade in a reputed workshop, or a three-year Diploma in Automobile Engineering. Age 18 to 25 years on 27 October 2026 — born between 28 October 2001 and 27 October 2008. Minimum height 170 cm and chest 80 cm unexpanded / 85 cm expanded; 165 cm and 78/83 cm for Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Assam, Himachal Pradesh, the Kashmir region of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh; 162.5 cm and 77/82 cm for candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Uncorrected distant vision of 6/6 and 6/9 with no glasses; a colour-blind candidate, or one with knock knees, flat foot, varicose veins or a squint, is not eligible, and nor is a candidate with a physical deformity or disability. Tattoos are allowed only on the inner left forearm or the back of the hand and must be smaller than a quarter of that part. You must agree to serve at least 10 years — resigning earlier means refunding three months' pay and allowances or the cost of your training, whichever is higher — and to serve anywhere in India or abroad.
Pay Scale
Level 4 in the Pay Matrix, ₹25,500 – 81,100 a month (7th CPC). The post also carries dearness allowance, ration money allowance, special compensatory allowance while posted in specified border areas, free accommodation or HRA, transport allowance, leave travel concession, free medical facilities and other allowances admissible in the Force. On appointment you choose either the National Pension System (NPS) or the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
Selection Process
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET), qualifying only: a 1.6 km race in 7 minutes 30 seconds, a long jump of 11 feet and a high jump of 3½ feet, with 3 chances at each jump. Fail any event and you are out; there is no appeal. Ex-servicemen do not take the PET. Bring a clear printout of your online application and your admit card, or you will not be let in; identity is checked with biometrics.
- Physical Standard Test (PST): height and chest are measured against the table in the eligibility section. A candidate rejected on height or chest may appeal in writing to the Presiding Officer the same day for re-measurement. Under- or over-weight is not rejected here; it is decided at the medical examination.
- Verification of original documents, before the written examination: educational, diploma and experience certificates, the 10th-class certificate for date of birth, caste/EWS certificates in the annexure formats, a no-objection certificate if you are a government employee, the discharge certificate for ex-servicemen, and four passport photographs.
- Written examination of 100 marks in 2 hours, objective multiple-choice, on OMR or computer as ITBP decides, at 12th-standard level: General Knowledge 10, Mathematics 10, Hindi or English 20 (you choose the language) and trade theory 60. Qualifying marks are 35% for General, EWS and ex-servicemen and 33% for SC and OBC (NCL). The answer key is put on the recruitment website afterwards.
- Practical (skill) test of 50 marks, qualifying at 50% for every category, for ten times the category-wise vacancies on written marks: vehicle inspection 10, identification of faults 10, rectification of defects 25 and handling of tools 5.
- Category-wise merit lists (UR, SC, OBC (NCL), EWS and ex-servicemen) are drawn on the written examination marks. A tie goes to the older candidate, then to the name that comes first alphabetically in English. There is no reserve list.
- Detailed Medical Examination of those selected on merit. A candidate declared unfit may ask for a Review Medical Examination by signing the consent within 24 hours; its result is final, and there is no 'temporarily unfit' verdict.
How to Apply
- Apply online only, between 00:01 on 28 September and 11:59 pm on 27 October 2026, on https://recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in — an application sent any other way is rejected.
- Click NEW USER REGISTRATION and create your profile with a working e-mail address and mobile number; admit cards for every stage are issued online to them.
- In the profile, fill gender, category (UR, SC, OBC (NCL), EWS), employment status and the other details before you open the application. Any false entry cancels the candidature, and a category cannot be changed later.
- Fill the Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) application, then pay ₹100 through the online payment gateway; SC candidates and ex-servicemen pay nothing.
- Print the submitted application form and keep the same passport photograph — you must show the printout at the PET and PST. A government employee must bring a no-objection certificate from the employer to document verification.
