Age Limit

Minimum Age18 Years
Maximum Age30 Years
Age as on03 Nov 2026

Age is 18 to 30 years, and because this advertisement has only one post that single limit applies to every applicant. The note under para 2 fixes when it is counted: "The age limit will be calculated as on the last date for submission of application" — that is 3 November 2026 — and clause 8.4.2 summarily rejects an applicant found overaged on the last day of receipt of applications. Para 2 prints exactly two relaxations and no others: five years for Scheduled Tribe candidates against the reserved vacancy, and up to five years for Government servants, in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government. The advertisement prints no relaxation for Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Classes, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen or women, and there is no vacancy reserved for those categories in it, so none is claimed here. Nothing in the advertisement extends the last date for candidates from the North-East, Ladakh, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands or Lakshadweep; 3 November 2026 is the last date for everyone.

Eligibility

Nationality: the Coast Guard invites applications from eligible Indian citizens (para 1), and the declaration on the prescribed form has the applicant declare citizenship of India by birth or domicile. The post: Foreman of Stores — General Central Service, Group 'B', Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial — four vacancies, two unreserved, one Scheduled Tribe and one Economically Weaker Section. Education and experience: column (d) of the vacancy table offers two routes and you need one of them complete. Route one is a Master's degree with Economics or Commerce or Statistics or Business Studies or Public Administration from a recognised university or institute, AND one year of experience handling stores and keeping accounts in store. Route two is a Bachelor's degree in Economics or Commerce or Statistics or Business Studies or Public Administration, OR a Diploma in Material Management or Warehousing Management or Purchasing or Logistics Public procurement, from a recognised university or institute, AND two years of that same experience. In both routes the experience counts if it was gained in a concern of the Central Government or a State Government, a statutory or autonomous organisation, a public sector undertaking, a university or any recognised institution, a bank, or a private sector organisation listed on the Stock Exchange of India. Certificates: every document you enclose must carry a date of issue on or before 3 November 2026 (para 4 Note 1, repeated at para 6.2). A reserved-category candidate must produce the category certificate in the prescribed format at Annexure-II or Annexure-III, and an EWS certificate is valid for the current financial year only, with the crucial date for the income and asset certificate being the closing date for receipt of applications. Serving government candidates: a no-objection certificate from the employer is essential, the application has to be forwarded through proper channel before the due date (clause 8.5), and a candidate who fails to produce the NOC is liable to be rejected and to have the candidature cancelled before the appointment letter issues. Character: a candidate must not have been arrested or convicted and must have no criminal case pending in any court; candidates facing criminal proceedings or a police investigation after an FIR has been registered are debarred from applying (clause 8.8). Place of posting: the vacancies exist at Karwar, Minicoy, Pipavav and Bhubaneswar. The advertisement marks the vacancies tentative and liable to change with service requirement, says the place of appointment or posting may also vary, and states that a selected applicant is liable to serve anywhere in India, on the mainland or in the Andaman & Nicobar or Lakshadweep islands (para 1, Notes 1 to 3). Furnishing wrong or false information leads to disqualification, and candidature can be rejected at any stage of the recruitment, or even after joining, if the information given is found false or not in conformity with the eligibility criteria (clauses 8.1 and 8.2).

Pay Scale

The advertisement states the pay in one word: Level-6 in the Pay Matrix. It prints no rupee figure, no pay band, no entry pay, no allowance and no total emoluments anywhere in its thirteen pages, so no amount is shown on this page either — the figure you may see elsewhere for Level-6 is not in this notice. The post is a General Central Service, Group 'B', Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post, and the nature of the duties is set out in para 3: custodian of the store house, supervision of the staff working under you, assisting a superior officer with the audit of ledgers and folios and liaison with the audit authority, inventory control of every item in the store house and disposal of scrap, supervising the handling system for issue and receipt of stores in the warehouse, and any duties related to store and service.

Selection Process

  1. Scrutiny of applications. Every application received is scrutinised against the eligibility criteria and the required documents, and only candidates whose applications are verified and found correct are issued an admit card.
  2. Admit card by post. The admit card of a shortlisted candidate is sent by post, in the self-addressed stamped envelope that candidate enclosed with the application. The list of shortlisted candidates is also published on www.indiancoastguard.gov.in.
  3. Written examination. Every shortlisted candidate sits a pen-and-paper written examination set on the educational qualification prescribed for the post. The question paper is bilingual and carries 80 objective-type questions, one mark for each correct answer, and there is NO negative marking.
  4. The paper, subject by subject, as para 7.2 prints it: Mathematics (Arithmetic) 15 questions and 15 marks; Mental Ability / Reasoning 15 and 15; General Awareness 15 and 15; English 15 and 15; questions related to the profession 20 and 20 — total 80 questions for 80 marks. Duration is one hour. The passing marks are 40 for unreserved and EWS candidates and 36 for Scheduled Tribe candidates.
  5. The syllabus para 7.1 prints for those five subjects is indicative and not exhaustive, and the Coast Guard reserves the right to ask questions commensurate with the technical requirements of the post even where they are not explicitly detailed. The profession paper covers standard practices in supply chain management; the procedures and equipment used in the receipt, storage, requisitioning and disbursement of supplies and materials; and the maintenance of ledgers for stores and the connected documents.
  6. Examination centres are New Mangalore and Bhubaneswar, and the candidate chooses one of the two on the application form. The exact date, time and venue are communicated on the admit card, and the centre may be changed for administrative or technical reasons.
  7. Document verification. Every shortlisted candidate holding an admit card undergoes document verification on the day of the examination and must bring the original documents named in the admit card. Each of them must have been issued on or before the last date for submission of applications.
  8. Merit list. It is prepared strictly on merit position as per the marks obtained in the written examination, and is published on the Indian Coast Guard website with the necessary instructions. Merely appearing in or qualifying the written examination confers no right to claim appointment unless the eligibility criteria are fulfilled (clause 8.7).
  9. Travel concession. A Scheduled Tribe candidate is entitled to second-class rail or bus fare by the shortest route as per government rules, reimbursed at the examination venue on submission of the original tickets. It is not admissible to a Scheduled Tribe candidate whose centre is less than 30 kilometres from the place of residence, or who is already in Central or State Government service (clause 8.6).

How to Apply

  1. There is no online form and no portal to register on. This is an offline application: it is filled on paper, in the prescribed format given at Annexure-I of the advertisement, and sent by post. The form may be filled either in English or in Hindi.
  2. Affix a recent self-attested colour passport-size photograph on the form. Write your name and the date on every self-attested photocopy you enclose, and send no original certificates with the application.
  3. Enclose self-attested photocopies of: your Aadhaar card; the matriculation or equivalent mark sheet and certificate; the UG, PG or diploma mark sheets and certificates for the essential qualification you are claiming; the latest ST or EWS category certificate if you are applying against a reserved vacancy; your experience certificate; a no-objection certificate from your employer if you are serving in a government organisation; and two latest passport-size colour photographs.
  4. Enclose a separate blank envelope addressed to yourself with a ₹50 postal stamp pasted on it. That is the envelope your admit card is posted back in, and clause 8.4.6 summarily rejects an application that arrives without it.
  5. Super-scribe the envelope containing the application, in BOLD letters, with the notation "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF FOREMAN OF STORES", and also write the category you are applying under. Clause 8.3 makes this mandatory and summarily rejects applications without those notations.
  6. Send it by ordinary post only, to the address the advertisement prints at para 5: The Director General, {For PD (Rectt)}, Coast Guard Headquarters, Directorate of Recruitment, C-1, Phase II, Industrial Area, Sector-62, Noida, U.P. – 201309. Dispatching the application by hand or by courier will not be considered for recruitment.
  7. Applications are received from the nineteenth of September 2026, and the last date for receiving applications is the third of November 2026. Every document you enclose must carry a date of issue on or before that same day.
  8. If you work in a government department, forward the application through proper channel only, before the due date of receipt, along with the no-objection certificate issued by the concerned authority.
  9. Applications are summarily rejected for any of these: an incomplete application; being overaged on the last day of receipt; overwriting, cutting, corrections or information that does not match the enclosures; a photograph not affixed; the self-attested photocopies not enclosed; or the stamped self-addressed envelope not enclosed (clause 8.4).
  10. Clause 8.9 asks candidates to visit the Indian Coast Guard website, www.indiancoastguard.gov.in, regularly for important updates on this recruitment.
